    Question ACE Fault Diagnostics advice

The ACE on my D2a HSE has an intermittent fault that occurs only on hot days when idling stationary when the vehicle is warm and has been driven for a while (which makes it very hard to replicate the conditions and test). It has occurred four times in the three years that I have owned the vehicle:
1st time - in Sydney traffic in 2011, the day after I purchased the vehicle, on a hot summer day whilst sitting at the traffic lights.
2nd time - on the same day a bit later in the traffic
3rd time - a hot day during Summer of 2012/2013.
4th time - Thursday this week when Hobart experienced an unusually hot day (36*) and I was sitting waiting at a set of traffic lights.

What occurs is the red ACE light on the dash (looks like a vehicle with an arrow pointing each direction) illuminates red colour and the dash chimes.
If I turn the vehicle off and back on, it goes away.

I have drained and replaced the fluid with Penrite PAS Fluid ( Penrite Oil - A Better Class Of Oil ) and replaced the metal filter in the module thingo.

I connected the Nanocom Evolution and recorded the following faults:

NANOCOM - DISCOACE.APP - DISCOVERY ACE Fault file

    Fault 03-01
    ELECTRICAL FAULT IN PRESSURE
    CONTROL VALVE CIRCUIT
    ---
    Fault 04-02
    DIRECTION CONTROL VALVE 2
    CURRENT OUT OF RANGE
    ---
    Fault 06-01
    HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TOO LOW
    ---
Any ideas on what these faults actually mean and how to test/repair them?

I found this website < ECU/Software Module Information System >, but it doesn't really tell me a huge amount of what to check.

when we brought our D2a it was all good at the beginning. our previous D2a did not have ACE and the drive home was a bit fun

a few days after we had an RED (or might have been amber) ACE light illuminate. a quick read of the manual and became area.

It to was intermittent and the manual says that if you get a red light STOP THE CAR! PUT ON A TRUCK! TAKE TO STEALERSHIP! YOU ARE GOING TO DIE!

As it was intermittant and would happen whilst driving and for no apparant reason, no change in road surface it was a mystery. It would often occur when coming to a halt, idling upto a traffic light or in the garage, but a restart would always solve the indication.

I pulled the connections that were easily accessible and we kept an eye on it.

I thought about it some more, and with the known history, the vehicle had been idle with little use for a while and i concluded that the system just needed exerciseing.

    I dont have a nanocom

Whilst these are not similar to your experiences, it is some additinal information that may help.

I suggest pulling the connectors where ****ible, checking cleaning and making a calculated choice after that how far you go to resolving the issue

I read that in the manual too, but since the light and chime turned off when I reset the car (off and then on again), I decided that was a bit extreme course of action.

I've only had the issue occur four times in three years, which is certainly bearable, but as it seems to have some correlation to ambient temperatures being hot, it may be more of a concern if I ever road trip to somewhere warmer or relocate, or the problem may continue to deteriorate, so I'd rather deal with it if possible!

Scott, very possible the ACE pump may be worn/ bypassing in hot weather / high oil temps.

    As JC said!

I had it on a real hit day mid roundabout!

Losing ACE mid corner was unnerving but not dangerous - it just tilted over more than usual.

I pulled the filter (slightly dirty), dumped the fluid and refilled and bled the system and haven't had a worry since.

    Your fluid may need changing..

I was told the same explanation..Hot weather =pump slippage internally. I could count 3 times in 5years..light on..reset each time ..not worth worrying about ...considering that system works so well otherwise. Worry about something else .

I drained the reservoir a year ago and refilled with fresh fluid (Penrite PAS).
About six months ago I replaced the filter and toped up with new fluid.
The fluid looks pretty clean and healthy, but might drain the reservoir again and refill.

Yes, whilst residing here in cold Hobart it's not an issue. But if I ever venture further north in the vehicle it may be an issue. Would prefer to deal with it if possible to avoid future headaches whilst on a road trip.

Yeah, it sure does where you are! I live in Port Pirie, which isn't too far away from you, for 5 years!
