I've done a gearbox replacement on a Triumph before - and it took a while - I'm a slow mechanic.

How true to plan is RAVE? What pitfalls are there? Anyone made a home built equivalent of the gearbox support tool LRT 99 007?

It's a bit hard to see at the moment with no car....

Had a good search. Looks like an engine crane is the way to go to remove the box.

Have emailed bundanene and ringing around in the morning for bell housings.

    What's wrong with the clutch?
If the clutch is OK I would either swap out the bell housing or patch it up in place, new pipes and tailshaft and bob's your uncle, Regards Frank.

I got a Tom Woods front shaft for my D2 from Jeep Konnection in Melbourne - was about $600 delivered to ACT. They were very good to deal with.

$4500 seems on the steep side though, is this using Aus sourced parts? I got a Valel full clutch kit inc dual mass flywheel for about $400. That included air shipping. Can double check price if you like.
Well I got abit confussed with the price, would have been about £400 not $

Thanks for your pm kelvo. Have requested quote.

Will chase up jeep connection. Don't mind paying 15% more to shop local.

I have not seen the clutch in person. I've been told that the chunk from the bell housing caused the damage to it.

I'll get the car home tomorrow.

On the bright side could have been a lot worse...like digging in and causing a roll-over. Sorry about the mess, but good you can write about it! $4k is less than depreciation even on a second hand vehicle... on which you will then have to spend additional $$$ and time ... good luck with it.
