anyone painted their roof lining other then in black?

    Hi
Pulled the roof lining down to repair the sagging original; covering.

Going to paint is to match the original colour - a light tan. However all the
pics and descriptions of how to do this use black.

Wife not happy with black (not matching rest of interior) and wants as close to original colour.

I don't think painting in a lighter colour will work very well, any thoughts??

Possibly may go back to gluing another similar material on .........

quite a few posts on redoing the headliner with mterial again. Do a search. There are also links to various suppliers. Personaly I think a painted liner would look strange but maybe.......?

Thought about doing this myself, & I agree not in black. Let me know how it goes if you decide to go ahead with it

There are a few pics on one of the American forums with several pics of painted roof linings, both in black and tan/crème. Seem some liked the result, others did not and relined it with material.
Will try the paint first, and if doesn't work out will find suitable material.
Wonder if the alcantera like on the door cars would be suitable - or perhaps too heavy?

I painted mine a while back. I undercoated it with flat silver to stop bleeding through then top coated with a medium grey.

Just uploaded some more pics to the Dropbox link I out in showing installed pics.
Hard to take good pics installed, and I know it needs a wash down after I put it up with grubby hands.

Looks pretty good. I was going to try some type of interior paint, never thought of using the textured type paint.
Have next week off, so hoping to get it sorted then

Before you put your hood lining back in, put some silver foil insolation on the inside of the roof. I did it to my car and it stopped any heat transfer into the cab.
