    Starter motor or Selector switch?

    Hi all,
    my 2003 D2a auto TD5 suddenly won't start. All I get is a click in P or N,
riding the selector lever doesn't help. Locking and unlocking helped just once, battery is OK.
How do i distinguish between Starter motor or Selector switch?

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

Sounds like the starter solenoid. It's a common problem and there are lots of threads on the issue.
Try searching for "Td5 Starter Solenoid".

No. Just the contacts need replacement. PITA (usually) to get the starter motor out though (back nut is the issue).

No, it means have a read of some of the many threads already on this issue and it will tell you how to rebuild it.

For future reference, easiest way to determine if it is the starter motor solenoid or the inhibitor switch is if your getting the clunk noise when you turn the key in P or N, but not D or R then the switch is likely working and the issue is with the solenoid. If the same effect happens regardless of gear position then more likely to be the switch.
