    Post Oil in Loom TD5

    Hi,
I know this is an ongoing problem and our Landy has already had a harness replaced, but the cleaning of the plug is no longer working and a new loom is in order. Couple of questions as I know this has been discussd before, can anyone point me in the direction for replacing it yourself and is ebay a good option for a replacement? Also how hard is it to seal the unit so that it doesn't keep happening?
    Thanks Cody

Let me google that for you

    other wise www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop /Injector Harness

No need to buy a new harness. Just get the old one out, give it the plug a good clean with contact cleaner, replace the blue o-rings, pop the top of the plug off and fill it with gasket sealant, get it in all the gaps, around the wires ... as much as you can get in. Replace and then clean the red plug and ECU for a few months to make sure it's stopped.

    Easy!

    Hi Cody,

If you are talking about the Engine Harness rather than the Injector Harness I got mine from the UK Famous Four - New Parts for Discovery Series II 1999-2004 Models - Electrical Very reasonably priced but there is a price difference depending on early or late engine. Also the exchange rate is not so favourable. It is an easy job to do yourself but make sure if you do you carefully note where it runs when you take the old one off.

Mate, While I agree with Discoemu it will give you much more peace of mind to replace the harness. I did mine recently and it was quite a simple job. You can get the harness and a timing cover gasket for less than $100 on EBay.
If you follow the link from DiscoEmu's post you will see very detailed info on fitting the harness. I did this and had it replaced in under an hour. If you do it this way then hang the old harness up somewhere and forget about it. If you (or someone else) needs one later then the oil will have drained out of the old one and it should give at least a few years more service. Have fun, Rick.
