noise at idle on D2 V8

I've recorded a strange sound that intermittently occurs every 10 or seconds at idle on a customers D2 V8.
I have reinstalled a disconnected ACE system on this vehicle. I replaced a worn belt tensioner, replaced a missing idler pulley, fitted a new ACE pump and new pulley and replaced a noisy worn shaft water pump, new Belt.
    All are in prefect alignment.
I suspect that it's coming from the A/C compressor, it is there with A/C on and A/C off. putting a long screw driver to the ear on all components just give me normal bearing running sounds.
the sound happens at approx 7sec and new end of recording.
    Any suggestions

    Thanks Mario

Sounds like an intermittent bearing chirp maybe . You say the sound occurs with aircon on and with it off? Otherwise I would say it was the clutch engaging . Is the aircon system gassed properly?
    Cheers Scott

    Hi Scott
I know what the clutch engage sounds like on it and this flutter chirp is different. The Air con is good and cold, it's a customers vehicle so don't know the history of any Aircon
    Cheers, Mario

My D2 V8 makes the same sound. I have read on other posts that this is normal and is associated with the ACE system.

When we were kids we used to use clothes pegs and clip cards from a card deck to the front forks so it would make a flicking noise on the spokes. Don't ask me why, but it was cool to do it.
Didn't expect Land Rover to add that feature

The ACE pump! That is a possibility it is the bypass load valve as its running. Now that you say, it does sounds a little like the bypass valve on a tractor power steer when it is turned. never thought of it doing that but when you think that so much else on a Discovery does little tests, like the air suspension. and it is a hydraulic pump so pressure not being used has to be bypassed .

Your right about noises, it is embarrassing when I pull up into a carpark turn the key off and the air suspension farts loudly when bystanders are next to you. some one once asked my what the noise was, I replied, "oh, every time I fill her up with X brand of fuel and it gives it wind "
