    Are you sure its not just the climate control fan rattling ..they sometimes do..see what happens when you turn it off. The limp mode issue could be as simple as low battery voltage ..give it a charge or check it. Alternator may be on the way out . test operation with multimeter . You get loads of answers on here ..but most of the time it's the simple solution .

    Loss of power issues have resolved themselves, and the Disco is now running fine. Might have been dirty fuel? Replacing the cat converter has helped in terms of power and fuel economy, so things have improved.
