    Diesel leak at fuel filter

I had diesel leaking from the top of the fuel filter so I've changed it (think it had worked it's way lose. Now I'm getting a drip from the overflow pipe on the sensor at the bottom. Seems enough that my fuel consumption is down and leaves a small puddle when stopped.

I've put a bit of tape over it to stop the drip but wondered if it's just a new sensor needed or something else.

Did you remove the old O-Ring/gasket from the filter sensor ??

You may have put the new filter on with 2x O-Rings, this may cause a leak.

Mine had been over-tightened by someone (suspect the mech who did a pre-purchase inspection) - the whole thing was cracked and required replacement. The same person (with mighty fists-of-ham) also over tightened the radiator top hose bleed screw, so I had to replace the top hose too.

Its a common issue on a TD5 Disco, the sensor is ohhh sooo fragile and cracks quite often, for the cost of them, normally I just replace them with the blank from a TD5 Defender.

And as already mentioned, replace the bottom seal, also ensure the top small seal comes off with the old filter, also dont be tempted to over tighten the new filter.

And yes, top radiator hose bleed screw is another one peeps like to over tighten and strip.

    Regards
    Daz
