Maybe as the engine is outside the ideal torque zone.

A Cruise control is just a frequency counter that counts the frequency of pulses compared with a set number , and tries to acquire the set pulse frequency by adding fuel or reducing it.
I guess such things as the set response time for the Cruise and the response time for the ECU can cause overruns especially if bigger tyres are fitted as the fuel settings to accelerate would have to be greater , and maybe by the time the turbo spools up you are over the set speed.

Going down hill if the vehicle inertia overcomes the braking of the overrunning engine the car will speed up unless you have active cruise which we don't have.
While towing I rarely use it as I like to anticipate hills by speeding up before the hill, and that is something cruise controls cannot do (yet).

....I think the D2 td5 cc is just crap. The one in my 97 RR is much more accurate even in the hilly country, my old BMW was even better. Hell even my BA ford was better!
When the indicated speed is nearly 10ks over the set speed and the vehicle is still trying to accelerate, and vice versa - nearly 10 under before it starts to accelerate, then that's sloppy, not outside the torque range.
There must be some ability to adjust the sensitivity electronically with the right equipment, it's just a matter of getting bbsolutions to incorporate the facility into the nanocom.

    Blame your remap.
The more tuners screw with the injector duration the worse your cruise control will be.
So Stage II will be worse than Stage I.

CC was never dealer adjustable, even via Testbook.
If it wasn't adjustable by dealer tools it won't be adjustable by Nanocom.

It was the same even before I changed ecus. It's a pity the sensitivity cannot be adjusted. I'm amazed that a two year older rangie can have a better cc system. I had an old Volvo years ago I put a kmart special cc in, the one you put magnets on the tail shaft.... That was average, but it was better than the D2!

My CC on my stock standard D2a TD5 is very accurate, better than on SWMBO's Subaru.
    2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone
2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

The CC on my 99 Td5 (stock ecu) is pretty accurate, on a rare occasion it will stray by no more than 5km/h. It hasn't kicked down or hunted thru the gears but I don't tow.
Only complaint I have is when I hit cancel it comes off with a bang if you could call it that. I have learnt to ease down on the throttle a bit before cancelling.

Seems the accuracy or sensitivity is a bit hit and miss.
I still find it hard to understand why this cannot be adjusted. Just because there currently isn't a system that can access it doesn't mean it cannot be done? It is only electronic magic after all.

Just rereading some of the posts, now the cc is part of the engine ecu, right? My original ecu behaves the same as the upgraded Bruce Davis ecu now in the car. There is no difference in the actions of the cc. Yes it holds speed perfectly on the flat, but doesn't like the ups n downs....and yes mine turns off with a jerk when in lockup and I too use the pedal to reduce the effect.

The "jerk" is driveline slop being taken up.

Hence using the pedal to reduce the effect, a bit of vehicle sympathy.
