    Unlock Using Key Question

    Hi Folks,

My receiver has died and am awaiting the arrival of a new one. The only way I can get in, is by using the EKA code which is impractical for normal use.

Can you set the car so you use your key to unlock and drive away? ie it disarms the security system, or do you still need to press your key, once used the key to unlock the drivers door, in which case I'll have to wait for said receiver?

    I have Hawkeye.

    Cheers, Jerry

I have a keyfob with ruined buttons...

If I'm using that key, I open the car on the drivers side handle and everything is fine...

In the BCU there is an option called "Alarm disarming".
If this is set to "Always" unlocking with the key in the door will disarm the alarm.

If it is set to "Key Never" you must use the EKA to disarm the alarm when opening with the key in the lock.

You should be able to set this with the Hawkeye.

    cheers

Okay so I tried that on Hawkeye and set up as "Always" but the result was not what I expected.

I then locked the car with the key, unlocked it again and the alarm went off.

After EKA again, I then turned the superlock off. I now have a situation where IF I do not lock the car I can use it!

Any thing I may of missed?

It doesn't sound like the settings have been changed. Not sure of the procedure on the Hawkeye, but the Nanocom requires you change the setting, then scroll to the last page in the section and then select write settings to BCU.

This is the text from the Nanocom Docs, which is basically the same as RAVE:

Alarm disarm: This setting programs the effect that usage of the vehicles key has on
    disarming the alarm system. Options:
    - Operation of the key in the drivers door can always disarms the vehicle (ALWAYS).
    - Key only Operation of the key in the drivers door only disarms the vehicle if it was locked with the key (KEY ONLY).
    - The security system is not disarmed by the key (except via an EKA) (KEY NEVER).
It sounds like yours is still set to "Key Never"
I'd advise checking the BCU settings again to verify the changes were actually written.

    cheers

    Thank you Paul

I checked and it had been changed so it is not letting me in despite "Always".

So I changed it back to "Never" It let me in , no alarm but then the engine will not start!

So I guess I'll wait for the receiver and hope for the best.

I'm going to disconnect the battery for half an hour and see if that makes anything happen.

My receiver was toast when I first got my 2002 D2 and I could open it with the key.
I do not have an EKA code .
When I looked at my settings with Nanocom Evo, AFAIR the setting also required is "active immobilisation disarmed"
I still have passive immodilisation armed
