    Question Error Codes TD5 Auto

Without going into the specific problems can anybody advise what the Error Codes P0095 and P0607 relate to? The only list I can find on the CD manual doesn't include these. The latter one I am hoping relates to the Throttle Position Sensor. My local mechanic noted that these were the only ones showing and he is not up to date with Land Rovers.

I currently have the MIL and M&S lights on but no accelerator and can't connect these two issues. A TPS fault shouldn't presumably show flashing mode lights. I have studied threads for days and can't find identical issues.

P0607 appears to relate to the TPS or Throttle Position Sensor and p0095 is the Air Temperature sensor. The codes do not pinpoint the cause , only that there is a fault in that particular area. The codes appear to be generic computer fault codes, OBD? The P0607 will activate the Engine or MIL light it seems.

    How old is the battery?
    How old is the MAF?

Some TD5 owners have had to replace their TPS.

    Unhappy

The battery is less than 2 years old and seems to be in excellent condition. The engine always catches on the first crank and has done so since new. I replaced the MAF sensor 6 months ago just in case that was a factor in a previous issue.

I plan to check the tightness of the nuts on the accelerator/sensor assembly first then, if I can get acceleration, drive to the mechanics, get it onto the hoist and have them check the Limit Switch [replaced a year ago], the multi plug connector and the harness running to it for abrasion [supposedly checked when the Switch was replaced]. Also the solenoid connections?

After a muddy trip I had blasted off the underside at the carwash and the next day the M&S lights came on with, eventually, no accelerator. So the possibility exists that water ingress somewhere may be a cause of the lights........but how is the TPS fault connected....or just unlucky that 2 faults happened simultaneously?

Talking Have I found the answer!!!???

After reading hundreds of threads and accumulating all of the gathered wisdom I narrowed down the possibilities considerably. It just had to be associated with the Throttle in some form. Being unable to bend, due to a severe back problem suffered for months, I was unable to bend low enough to remove the accelerator assembly to check tightness etc. so I worked out where the wiring exited through the firewall and simply wriggled the flexible conduit. Well blow me down so to speak the MIL light and the flashing Mode lights went out and the accelerator worked for the first time in 3 weeks!

Restarting the engine and all was still good. Pressing the accelerator worked then the lights came back and no throttle action. Stopped the engine, wriggled the wiring again and it then worked perfectly....no lights and full throttle.

Now I will drive the short distance to the mechanic on monday and get him, or his auto mechanic, to determine whether it is just a loose connection or something in the sensor. As a new genuine part is $460 I will investigate a second hand one if that ends up the problem. Does anyone have an opinion on the sensibility of a used part other than what if that is nearing it's own breakdown.
[Toyota drivers need not submit their obvious answer!]

I still don't get why the Mode lights come on as they pertain to 'electrical faults in the auto transmission' according to the handbook.

Anyway I am happier if this is the problem and will post once I know for sure. Thanks for the help already offered.

Why do you still want to replace a sensor when you obviously have wiring harness issues or connection problems?
If it were me, I would start by checking and cleaning the connectors either end of the harness, then stripping off the conduit, separate the wiring and inspect for insulation damage.

MS lights are usually battery related.

    Red face

I of course don't know yet that the fault is 'obviously wiring harness or connection issues' until tomorrow when it is looked at and no one else does either. I am simply thinking ahead if it turns out to be the potentiometer and considering my cost options. As noted, I am physically unable to do anything myself, have very limited resources and am not a Land Rover mechanic.......but I do appreciate everyone's effort in advising.

I must have misinterpreted this bit then. But it seems clear enough.
    Anyway, good luck with it.
