    Black Alloys?

Has anyone painted or powder coated their original D2a wheels, or any other Disco wheel for that matter? Im thinking id like to do my wheels but would be interested to see how theyd look first.

I'm not sure if you are aware, for the most part black alloys are for mall cruisers. When used in most Offroad conditions they scratch and the bright alloy comes shining on back through. IMO then they look worth 5c.

I have been wanting to paint my rims for a while now and have been considering black as my vehicle is dark green. My problem was what to do with the stainless steel wheel nuts. While on holiday in South Africa I saw a D2 with the factory alloys painted black but still with the shiny wheel nuts. It didn't look good.
When I get the motivation I plan to spray my alloys a graphite color.
Late last year there was a Groupon deal to powder coat 4 rims for $200 but that excluded removing the tyres and preparation.

Haha! That might be true and I'd be lying if I said mine has been in more mud holes than malls, but I reckon they look pretty sweet. I'd be leaning more towards painting them so that if they do happen to get scratched (most likely on a kerb outside David Jones) I could patch em up.

Ive read that powder coating wheels is a bad idea, the powder coat tends to crack and eventually lift, and stripping the stuff off can be hellish...not that removing paint is much fun!

Same style as my Australian sold vehicle. If that's what you are asking.

They were a shiny black which sort of got lost in all the blackness. It didn't look as good as I expected to.
