Shouldn't cause any dramas.
Hi all,
i have dropped my transfer case and gearbox as i need to change the clutch
in my td5. i have found that the thrust washers on planetary gears needed replacing in the TC, which i have done along with necessary seals and intermediate shaft o rings.
following the workshop manual, i marked the drive shafts to drive flanges before removal...when i changed the input and output seals on TC i forgot to mark their position on the splines.
Is this going to cause any problems refitting the drive shafts or drive ability when all bolted back up?
thanks
Pete

Ok...thanks BigJon, i got a bit worried because the manual states to mark the shaft position on the flange when removing drive shafts.

perfect world you need them as the pieces will settle into each other and assembling them in the incorrect positions will cause the tolerances to be other than they were.
now look at the vehicle you're working on and pretend that with the way they come from the factory that you can read the above line without snickering or laughing at yourself for being worried in the first place.
marking is far more important (and even then its a stretch) when you replace the UJs and have to dismantle the yokes. as that changes the balance of the shaft (potentialy) but because they dont balance it with the shaft bolted to the diff and tcase...
