I was thinking of getting hold of new hoses, thermostat and changing them.

td5 with a thermostat area leak?
ok first off the thermostat is in a plastic bottle near the radiator ona clip in the shroud with 3 hoses on it...
IF its not leaking from there and its leaking from below the top hose entry where most people think the td5 thermostat hides before they get shown its true spot its one of three things.
1. the hose is internally delaminating and the coolant is coming out past the laminates.
2. the inlet housing is internally corroded and at certain temps is opening enough to just leak
3. water pump seal,
it might also be a bolt on the top hose fitting corroded past.

Yes I know where the thermostat is and not at the top hose.
1. I don't think so as it leaked 1st day and one stop on the way back on a 2 week trip and all other days it was dry as a bone????

Not top hose.
All hoses seem intact and no signs of failure only seems high pressure getting past the clamps.. That is why it has been suggested first signs of a head gasket failure pressurising the coolant..
only bought it up because a new owner on amberly has just fallen into that trap...
got sent down to me to have a look to see if I could find the leak near the thermostat. The owner pointed straight at the top radiator hose fitting....
If its on the drivers side odds are on the fuel cooler as previously mentioned.
you can cheaty check the system pressure by T piecing the bleed line from the radiator and putting a 20PSI gauge on a decent length of tubing in the system.
If it goes over 17 PSI the pressure cap is cactus and if after replacing it goes over 20 then your headgaskets going soft on you and you want to change it before it lets go

My fuel cooler is leaking, do you have to replace it or can it be fixed.

It can be fixed. It's likely to be a couple of o-rings at each end. Do a search on this forum, or speak to Mario (RoverLord Off Road Spares on here) and he can send you a kit, or you can buy a couple of o-rings locally and do it yourself. Just get the right sort.
A new fuel cooler is hundreds. Just fix it.
