Thread: Report on Bilstein with Dobinson Springs

I also put these in 2 years ago.
+2 inch heavy duty dobbies,constant rate in the front and progressive in the rear.

Bit firm around town, but when loaded with gear and trailer it eats up the dirt tracks and corrugations.

I also run this combo, it is fantastic loaded up and handles great. I have to agree that it is great on corrugations .

What Billeis?

I have the 7100 with 360/80 valving and I'm slowly, very slowly mind you, thinking I should have gone the 400/100 valving. Maybe I just started to think like this since I fitted the winch to the front.

At the moment though, I love the ride. I'm SLS in the rear and Dobinsons +45 heavy in the front.

I have stock TD5, coils all round
with ARB Steel Bullbar only

want a 40mm'ish lift only
Tow a decent (2Tonne) boat a bit but D2 not really loaded up
any guidance on Spring rates ??

Sorry guys old topic but just popped up in a Google search as I am looking at this combo now, everyone still happy with them ?

I've got Dobbinson linear springs in front and rear. I have the plus 40-100kg in the front and whatever the non-variable rear is. I've got Polyairs in the rear also, if i didn't the car would probably not sit level as i run 10psi in the bags unloaded.

I have a TD5 with an ECB alloy front bar and winch with plasma rope. The boys at Dobinson wanted to sell me the variable rear springs, I couldn't see the point in having airbags (already had them) and variable rate springs. I'm pretty sure the car would sit better with the variable springs as a combo with the heavier rated front springs. NOTE: the heaver rated front springs are the same 'spring rate' as the +40kg they are just longer.

I run Pedders foam cell shocks.

All in all I like the combo, much better when loaded, much better than the standard sagged springs I did had. Can't speak for Bilstein shocks but people rave about them. For the price they'd want to be good.
