Front driveshaft gone too soon.
Hey all,
so just over a year ago I bought my '00 Td5 auto and quickly found it had a flogged front driveshaft. Now the lads at 4WD parts here in Perth were quite helpful and gave me a new driveshaft with the greaseable uni joints and all the good stuff however... after 30000kms it gave up over Easter.
Fortunately just a horrible vibration that came from the double cardan joint that'd gone so I've since been running without the front driveshaft and with the CDL engaged. (Side note: better fuel economy!)
So I ask the experts of AULRO, is this normal? I only have a 2" lift and 245/75s so nothing excessive. Do I need a special driveshaft or have I just gotten unlucky?
Thanks in advance,
Ben.

That is unlucky
A few questions
- Have you been serious offroad where it may of been bent and has worn the uj,s out
- have the aircon. Drains been redirected as per the original problem with the factory shafts issue
Sounds like you have a bad batch and at 30k they should warrant with a replacement
Hopefully they haven't supplied you with a cheapy with chinese bearings

Cheers guys, I'll make a trip up to see what can be done. Any possibility of extra damage being done by running it in 2wd with the CDL locked for extended periods of time?
