There are plenty of tricks to make them reliable and they are definitely worth keeping. Maybe reliable isn't the right word but band aids that mean you'll still get home if on the odd chance either fail. Like 4mm hose with schrader valves (normal tyre valves) for the SLS and a spare bag. Shorter belt for the ACE. Just 4 more things to carry if you have ACE and SLS.

Never had ACE on mine, so cant comment, but as far as the SLS is concerned, it is not problematic.

Yes, the airbags will need replacement at some point, and the sensor arms may also need doing. If the compressor goes, it may be possible to re-build it, or replace it with an after market type if you so desire.

But, with that said, how long do a set of shock absorbers & springs last?

What happens when you throw 100 kg's into the back of a D2 with springs? It sags. With air suspension? It rises to the occasion, and carries on as normal.

If you have springs, and ground the bum while off road, you start digging. With air, you push the button, let is rise up, and proceed upon your merry way.

If the air suspension systems were an issue, LR wouldn't persist with it.... but they have.

SLS is like Viagra for a Disco. No matter how much weight she puts on, it always stays up.

Hmm, had a pre-purchase inspection done, car needs $5000 of work done, some of which is roadworthy stuff, but much of which, like new front brakes, new clutch, shocks, engine mounts will need attention in the very near future. Looks like I'll have a bit of negotiating to do! Anyone care to suggest what their offer would be?
