TD5 Wrong oil? advice please see photo

Long story short i replaced my oil with what i assumed i used last time as the oil bottle still had 2.5L left. so blindly brought the same again and replaced my oil.

But after i noticed the bottle said suits petrols v8 ect and light diesel applications.

My question. will this oil be okay for another 10,000km or should i be draining it ASAP.

Thankyou for your help with my blond moment.

B2 oil rating or higher on the oil container? If so, should be fine.

that oils good to go for the td5, you might notice it will soot up a little quicker but thats about it.

(diesel oils have a little more detergent in them to help move the crap that bypasses the rings and exhaust valve seats to the filter.)

Been using same (Synpower 5/40) for the last 100K without troubles. I tend to change it at 10K intervals, or sooner if it fails the low-tech "gritty feel test."

not a bad test, usualy indicates the additive package has failed in this case the " detergent" is all used up and the oil is holding the soot and particulates

    Hello Warrzone

I did the same with some Penrite oil. The techy at Penrite said that the only difference between turbo specific oils and regular oils is that the turbo oils have a few more detergents in them. He said to just drive it and change the oil at the next regular interval. I haven't had any problems and it was probably over 100k km ago. I do 10k km changes too.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Have a look in the "Good oil" for the oil list . I think you will find TD5's need A3/B4 oil min. Higher is better, Its a small hard working engine thats turboed and runs warm!
Skimping on oil quality brings risks. IMHO the "V" falls short.
    Cheers Scott
