    Intermitant remote central locking

    Hi,

I bought my Disco in january during the hot weather and i have done a few of the minor jobs it needed at the time.

Since this slightly colder weather has hit Perth, im getting new problems. Early morning when its nice and fresh outside the indictors decide not to work on my way to work, Later in the day once the cars been sat in the sun for a little they work fine. this might just be a case of getting new flasher relays.

It may just be coinsidence but the remote central locking has decided to do the same thing. It seems to stop working in the cold but this time it doesnt get better with the heat of the day, its luck of the draw as to when it wants to work.

Ive replaced the battery in the remote which didnt improve things, the car is receiving a signal because the dashboard LED flashes and arms the alarm but doesnt lock any of the doors. What tells the doors to lock? Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue?

    Any help much appreciated.

Im not sure but it does sound as if you have a fuse box with faulty connections or possibly relays. D2 fuse boxes are known to develope solder joint and connector problems. Cold weather could be assisting by parts/ joints contracting, which could explain the heat of the day thingy. replace the locking relays with another, there are a few relays in the fuse boxs the same. You may need to remove F/Boxs and check the soldering joints on the rear, maybe close up the terminals that the relays / fuses clip into in the F/B with fine pliers (gently)
    Cheers Scott
