Any one have 235-85-16 tyres on there D2?

I'm looking at getting some 235 85 16 tyres for my D2 as the everyday drive around tyre. I'm just after some feedback regarding that size. The tyres I want to get will be an All Terrain tyre just so I don't have to change all the time, to my muddys (265-75-16), when I go out bush. The extra diff clearance would be a bonus as well in that size.

The car is a D2 chipped Td5 with 2 inch suspension lift. I don't want to go to much bigger if its going to make the fuel economy worse. I was looking at the BFG AT. At the moment I'm running 235-70-16 H/T which are good for the road but terrible when you go off it. I'll keep the muddys for the tougher stuff and the A/T for everyday driving and occasional weekend trips away with the family. Any feed back would be great.

    Cheers

    Chris

Great size. Handle well. Buy them anywhere. Legality issues. Wouldn't go back to stock.

    Will.

I am running this size but muddies, BFG KM2 (Disco 2003) TD5. The odometer reading is about 10KMs out. Happy with the extra diff clearance, especially in the Vic High Country. I have an approx 2"lift (OME), car has also been "chipped" for power. In so far as the fuel consumption, around town 12L-13.5lL/100KMs, in the bush around 14.5L/100KMs, the car has a few items on it permanently though, bull bar, roofrack, awning, dual battery ...

Thanks for the replies guys. It's looking like I might go for that size for the D2.

Did you guys have any rubbing on the guards issues when the car is flexing up?

The new size that you have chosen (235 85 16) is 0.1" (ie one-tenth of an inch) bigger in diameter than your muddies (265-75-16), so you should get similar road speeds and so on.
There won't be any height clearance difference to speak of.
Your Muddies are wider by just over 1" (10.4 vs 9.3), so there will be some differences with clearance and bumpstop adjustment etc. Your all-terrains will fit in easier.
The proposed tyres are 2.7" larger in diameter than your 235-70-16s and exactly the same width.
    I hope this helps.
