Whilst we are on the subject of odd sounds….

Mine has developed a smooth groan around 1000rpm only. It does it stationary, and rolling and its twice as loud when going around corners. There seems to be no pattern regarding cold or warm engine, or other temperatures.

    Any clues please?

Is your wife in the car? Mine has started to groan about the cost of keeping the thing going lately.

    Happy Days.

    Eureka!

Her whine was loud after the new head and went up a bit six months later with the new drive shaft and bell housing. Then the new FPR which had seized on brought upon her crescendo... She kept looking at Prados and other things.

Then our friend's Prado broke its clutch, slave and bell housing last year (same time as our head) $5K and four weeks to fix (no parts) then on out Simpson trip over Easter theirs seized the engine. At least $10K and counting….

Her whining has stopped - and that's why I can only now hear this other one.

Did you play in the mud last weekend Gus?
I'd be looking at a dry or worn universal or a serpentine belt pulley.
    Cheers, Kyle

    Yes I did Kyle

I did check the belt pulley actually before I took off the prop shaft. Looks allright but probably need someone else to have a look as well just in case.

I will see if I still get the sounds/noise with the prop shaft off. I think it runs on 2wd now with the prop shaft off not sure if it ok. Hopefully it wont take long before I find out whats wrong with D2.
