The bumper lights are fog lights. Switch on LHS of instrument binnacle come on with headlights.
Hi,
Last night I realised that I had no tail Lights in the rear bumper of the D2. I checked the fuse under the dash and was good and also the top pillar lights and number plate light works. Yes I checked the globes and are ok. The indicators work so the earth is through to the lights. If I put 12v across the globe holder both lights light up so connection good between them.
I tried to trace the wires up under the car but disapear up into the side panels. Does anyone know how it runs and if there ips a plug or access point to test from. I have a draw system in the back so hard to open up inside the back panels.
Any Info appreciated.
Cheers,
Dave.

D2 or d2a?
He has a 99 D2, however it may have had the update tail lights fitted, need that confirmed before we can move forward...
I'm guessing, that as he says the indicators are working, that the bar is just the fog and indicator lights
If - your rear light configuration looks like this:
Then you have FOG lights and Indicators in the bumper. The upper lights are Brake, Tail and Reverse lights.
If however it looks like this:
Then you have the facelifted lights.
And the bumper now has FOG lights and Reverse lights. The Brake, Tail and indicator are now up in the pillar.
Cheers
Mike
Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies. The bumper is as pictured by Tombie. It looks like I have been chasing a fault that is not there. My D1 had these as tail lights as well as the pillar one. I was doing a check over in getting the car ready for a trip this weekend and thought it did not look right. Now I find out there only fog lights on a D2. That 2hr I'm not going to get back. I'll go out and try it later.
Now where's that egg on your face tread.
Cheers, Dave.

Those bumper lights also love to fall out on corrugated roads
Easy fix pop them out, there are clips behind them, and silicone or super glue them in.
I've recently done a little bit of wiring trickery to convert these fog lamps to brake lights(They are 21w globes).
With the larger tyres and spring lift the lowest brake light was at the same height as the wife's high mount light in here little car.
