Harmonic balancer or something elsewhere
Hi,
I've currently got a problem with my td5 disco. On start up the motor is very lumpy and it sounds like it has a noisey tappet type of sound, when you try to accelerate it actually sounds like the motor is knocking like a motor that isn't warmed up type sound. The motor is down on power and I've tried a few things in order to fix this. I recently changed out the maf sensor, airbox sensor and manifold sensor with no change to anything. The motor also has has the crank position sensor changed at some stage and oil in the loom is not an option.
I've recently purchased another injector loom that I will fit this arvo in the hope that it fixes it, as I have read they can cause a fault sometimes.
I started to think maybe it's the harmonic balancer, it's not making a loud noise though, only a tiny bit of movement front to rear movement. How do you tell if it's a wastegate sticking ? Sometimes the engine has a big rush of power as well, like something has just changed. Could there be a fault somewhere ?
Cheers
Bronson
