    Removing EGR Cooler

Having removed my EGR (EU3 model) I now want to get rid of the cooler. Looking at RAVE I see that the large hose going into the cooler comes from the oil cooler. There is then a smaller hose coming from the EGR cooler which then runs to the plastic expansion tank.

I figure that I should be able to just run the hose from the oil cooler to the expansion tank. I would obviously have to reduce it somehow to fit it to the tank.

    Has anyone done this?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

What you have in mind is the same way I did mine.

But I used a Td5 Alive EGR kit which had the required reducer and some new hose to go from the reducer to expansion bottle.

I stumbled across another thread here somewhere which gives a part number for a blank to blank off the line from the oil cooler to the egr cooler, so you can remove the whole shebang.

If I blanked off this line I would not have any coolant flow through the oil cooler.

EU3 Td5's sold in some countries where emission regulations did not apply were supplied without EGR coolers.
The oil cooler was just blanked off with rubber cap from LR.
I blanked off mine 9 months ago with no issues since.
The oil cooler still functions as its in the engine block coolant flow.
