    brake issues

Howdy folks, I have some brake wigginess with the disco. Not to the floor brake pedal but the opposite. The pedal is rock hard. After it has driven a few meters it goes back to normal. But I also seem ot now have 3 amigoes which I have never had before other than coming on here and there but going off just as fast. And that has only been since replaced wheel hub and more so since new tyres as not sure if the sensor was bumped. Or if something like brake master cylinder is on its way out? I had a scary moment on the dirt road to my house the other week, (since amigos have been on and stayed on) I was only going 30kmph if that, as was approaching a horse and cart. lightly pressed brake pedal in order to stop completely, and the brake pedal went completely hard, and they all locked up and we slid, i did not think would stop actually. When it did this, abs did not kick in at all. and like i said, I was not going fast, was super slow, barely touched the brakes, and it has never done that previously. I do not think my 3 amigos is the normal 3 amigo issue. but thinking instead something to do with an actual issue with my brake system? I am going to be checking the newest abs cable that came on the replacement hub to make sure it is in place correctly.

but has anyone else experienced this at all? i am slowly saving up still for a new MAF.(every time i nearly get there one of my animals decides they would like to see the vet) and i still have a weird noise at 2500-2900 rpm rev range, plus got to replace gasket on the oil return line thing that comes out of the bottom of the turbo as oil is leaking there and does not look to be a gasket in that join at all and more.

    thankyou in advance landrovians!

    firstly is it td5 or v8 ?
it sounds like your brake problem could be either booster or a booster vacuum issue td5s have a vacuum pump , v8s rely on engine vacuum.
I would search the members with diagnostic equipment thread and see if you can find someone nearby with a nanocom etc to read the abs fault codes as they will tell you what is causing the three amigos

it is td5 i do have a friend with a nanocom. previously he has plugged it up for me (when they were intermitant) and it came up with the abs sensor fault. which i put down to the replaced hub/or sensor somehow being bumped when tyres were changed. the amigos would be intermitant when towing if i went over a bump. i will see if he is around to plug it up again to see what it says. ireally need to get one myself LOL but they are rather pricey

I think mine was about 450 but well worth it if you just sit and rev it in park or neutral does the brake pedal get better ?

it could also be an issue with another sensor or the module

I think this is still valid? A sound investment, especially as you can use it as a day to day instrument for temp, boost and volts

    Brakes

I don't know what your car is like if EGR is still fitted or not
but if it has been deEGRed how good are the blanking plugs
If they allow air into vacuum system the vacuum will decrease
this could cause your servo issues check the pipes and the blanks
    if fitted.

sounds like it could be a vacuum leak or the pump has problems
