    Fuel Cooler Help

My fuel cooler is leaking. I have done a search and found the o ring size.

What I could not find was whether to use one or two "O" rings at each end.

My second question is I wish to remove it from the car. How do I disconnect the fuel lines?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

One O-ring per end. Apparently the 2nd O-ring location is redundant - it makes no contact inside the housing.

To disconnect, first ensure area is clean, gently push hose further on to the fuel cooler then at the same time squeeze the two little square shaped buttons either side of the fitting as you pull the hose off the cooler. From memory the second hose is different and instead of two square buttons you have to push the end of the hose fitting on to itself as you pull the hose off. Hope this makes sense. Additionally i recommend you plug or cap both the fuel cooler pipes and the open hoses to prevent contamination entering.

    Good luck!

Viton o-rings are recommended for longevity. They do cost more but you shouldn't have to do them again.

Incidently, i recall my fuel hoses or maybe only one of the hoses had a rubber cover over the end of the hose that you need to push away or slide off first before disconnecting.

SWMBO is in town getting them and I did specify viton. She is getting four though. I will take two back. I did have a quick look on ebay and some of the kits had four, that is why I got her to get four.

$7.00 each but good value if they last.

Thanks every one for your help.

    Dave,

I did the one side with the cooler still in the vehicle. Undid the clamp pulled it apart and replaced the o-ring. From memory it was the side closest to the firewall that I replaced.
Do not know if you could do the same on the other end though.

I remember you doing it. I am sure it was when you did the broken manifold bolts and I thought it was the radiator side you did.

Mine looks like both ends and even if it was just one, I still would want to do both. Jobs like this can be done much easier with the unit out of the vehicle and it does not look too difficult to remove it.
