    TD5 auto no throttle response

Recently my 2002 Td5 auto has an intermittent lack of response from the throttle when first started for the day.

Engine starts fine, no warning lights anywhere.
Press the pedal and nothing happens i.e. keeps idling.
After maybe 10-15sec works fine and no issues until next but not every first start of the day?

Is something starting to fail or is it like me just getting old!

    thanks

Have you tried lifting off the throttle and pressing down again mine has been doing this for a while and I think it might be a sticky waste gate

Sent from my GT-S7275Y using AULRO mobile app

I have a similar problem. Almost every time I start the car for the first 20 or so seconds it lacks power. I can get the car to move but only slowly, revs and limited and boost is low. If I have the pedal down a bit when that 20 seconds is up all of a sudden it goes WHOOSH and takes off.
I was also suspecting the wastegate being stuck open but that would mean it would have been stuck open when I stopped and should have noticed something funky the previous drive. Ill also point out for me if I just let the car idle for 20-30second and then drive off, everything functions perfect.

I believe this can be attributed to a faulty MAP. ECU uses default settings after this time? a search on D2 forum as someone else had same time delay issue and talked about it - earlier this year iirc.

That is an indication of a Faulty MAF sensor - disconnect the MAF wiring plug and see if there is any change. Best way to check out if it is working is to read the air flow using a Nanocom.

Well I thought I would use my nanocom to check out my sensors, never really bothered as never thought what I had was an actual problem. My MAF reads 4.3gr/hr all the time, idle and moving..... Suspect I may have a faulty one!

NSS. May be telling you the obvious but buy a real VDO MAF, not a cheap copy.

Yep, already ordered a VDO one before I made the post. Should be interesting to see how the car changes.

maybe also check the MAF wires around the front of the engine, particularly the LH front as they wrap around the sound shroud.
