I forgot to ask what the EH is in ZF4HP22EH although mines a ZF4HP22 thanks.
I am sending my auto down to Wholesale Automatic in Bayswater they specialize in 4x4s manual to auto conversions and mods they will fit the Nomad valve body which will give the clutches higher oil pressure giving more clamping pressure it will make it a bit harsher on the shift due to less slip or flare between shifts for towing plus the manual lock up mod for all gears which is not part of the auto rebuild but a separate wire up unit anyone can add to there auto although they don't mention ZF they assure me they do it for them i have included a link to watch.

i was told you have to have a full electronic gearbox to fit the lockup, but I'm not sure if all D2 4HP22 qualify. Best check before you Lockin (aplogies for the pun) purchase/fitment. Having said that they know their business!

Why do you want to manually lock up the trans?
If it is for off road low range the Disco 2 already does it - just have to have the trans switched to Sports mode, (M) will be on lit up on the dash.
Personally I find it better driving down hill this way than using hill descent.
Most of the heat from an auto comes from the torque convertor(TC) With the TC locked the trans will produce far less heat.
I do question however if a manual switch is a good idea. There must be a reason why the factory lock up only comes it at a certain speed.
One theory I have is that at lower speeds a locked TC would place too much strain on the auto's gears which aren't that big.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

by way of example, I do quite a few road kms at a steady 70. The lockup is great just for this alone, as long as I remember to switch it off for slowing down etc.

As I have said on another thread for those that don't know you get lockup at 70klh which holds down to low 60's if you drive in 3rd and this is standard. Ideal for towing and low speed driving.
Nick
But I don't want to be in 3rd. I'm driving on flat WA roads with very light throttle application required, which does not stress the TD5. This means that my car is very comfortable driving in 4th lockup. I could speed to 80, get into 4th lockup, then drop to 70 km and hopefully stay in 4th lockup, but I don't want to attrack the blue boys/girls. Within a couple of weeks I should have lockup in both TD5s and will report back. Cheers

My post was a bit of information to those that are not aware that you get TC lockup when driving in third. Not knowing this has probably caused the early demise of many transmissions towing heavy trailers/horse floats etc at below 4th TC lockup speeds for long periods. Don't get me wrong I am also interested in this mod for mine.

I had a larger tranny cooler fitted by Davis Performance. Works a treat. On hot days my tranny now stays cool even when towing.
