Turbo will not profuce boost without load on the motor so you won't be able to replicate at a stand-still unless you whack it on a dyno. Suggests compressor or boost leak issue.

    Smile Whistle?

Check the small vacuum hoses attached to the boost modulator for splits and replace if necessary.

Correct Ballbag. I can NOT replicate fault in drive way, Needs a load. I don't know many of us that have a dyno sitting in the driveway! might be nice at times.

Yes seems to increase with boost.

Have not checked the little hoses yet. Will tomorrow in the light. thanks perrie.

Mine was doing that just before the intercooler hose blew off the turbo! Coasting was fine, accelerator down slightly to get some pressure and a whistle could be heard. I would be checking all your intake hosing post turbo.

Finally had a bit of time this afternoon. Got around to a little more looking. Could not see anything until I removed the turbo. Leaking between the turbo and the exhaust header. Only 3 bolts. Half a gasket and 2 bolts nice and tight???

Continued through and now got the exhaust manifold off too. The previous owner/mechanic has put 2 thin gaskets in.
Is there something here that I should know before I put it back together??
I will de-web it before I put it back together.

The exhaust manifold gasket is a multilayer affair from memory. The little welds or crimps holding the bits together have probably let go, so it looks like separate gaskets.

I'd be keen to hear if you had the manifold refaced as I'm looking at my options to do this ion mine.

How many dollars have you been quoted for the job?

    Cheers for the info.

    Hi bell,

I have not had it faced yet. I will prepare the manifold then take it to get faced. Looks ok compared to some of the warps posted on here. I have got no idea how much they want to charge for that yet. will let you know when I have had it done.
