Curious, why did you go with the stainless plate and not directly onto your panel?
No need to apologize for jumping in. Just because I started this thread does not give me exclusive ownership of it. This forum is for everyone to read and discuss, ask questions etc. The more the better.
ipom. Those switches you now have looks the same as the one I have in my D1. Have you got them wired so the tiny LED in the switch illuminates all the time so they can be found in the dark?
I have done this with my D1 switch but have yet to measure the currant draw of it.
Dave, I've wired them so they only light up when a load is applied.
I'm not sure what the D2 is like but I remember when I mounted switches the the rear of my D1 they felt very flimsy when using them because the trim panel was so flexible, almost that if you hit it to hard it would rip out. But those were more traditional looking switches with little rings that screwed on behind the trim. These switches look like they have little tabs that grip on the trim, so the mdf/vinyl/whater-it-is composite may not be strong enough to hold the switch in place. Just speculating. I quite like some of these suggestions for rear load lights.
Thanks Stuee, I punched into the D2 trim when I had mine and fitted the flush mount versions iPom has, that's why I asked.
Some people do like the extra backing plates... So I guess just personal preference in this instance.
Great feedback guys!
You're welcome Mike.
Dual battery is going in the rear bin as of today. I had to make up a tray and mount it to the rear seat captive nuts.
Once it's finished all the rear light 12V supply will be transferred to the aux battery.
