Thread: How do i know what ECU i have in TD5 D2a?

if you take it out it will be labelled on the front nnn or msb etc ,etc

If it's NNN...... originally fitted on facelift modells is remapable through the OBD port, for MSB ECU they must remove the original chip and solder in a socket with the remapped chip.

What about the tuning. As far as i can tell they load a base tune then modify it to suit your vehicle if they use the Euro 3 tune instead of the Euro 2 tune you get lots of errors on Nanocom, is this correct? And / Or have i completely missed something.

2002 on D2a have the NNN ECU and use the EU3 tune.

MSB ECUs are only in the D2 from 99 to 01, you can put the NNN ECU in the early D2, but you must use the EU2 tune.

Not quite, a tune to suit the ECU and the EU class of the vehicle needs to be applied.

Or do the EU3 wiring upgrade and sensor change

So basically I should not have a problem with a 2004 D2a. It should have a NNN ECU and an EU3 tune anyway. They will just remap it to perform better and it shouldn't log any errors?
