IMHO the suspension does not have the articulation of a D1 with anti roll bars as the front roll bar particularly is quite thick.
Of course if you buy one with active anti roll it disconnects the bars in low range.
Having said that the electronic traction control makes it relatively unimportant to have great articulation, as I found it great on Wombat holes where a wheel can be 300cms off the ground and still drive on..
Its all a trade off.
Despite what journalists say I think a D2 is quite stiff in roll on the highway even with no active anti roll. BMW thinks we all need to drive sports cars.
There is an anti roll bar disconnect kit available in the States.

OK when I was young I have had a wheel 1metre off the ground but I must admit not 3Metres.

I've had my wheels around three metres off the ground. Have a look at my avatar.:)
I installed a slickrock fabrications front swaybar disconnect (front left only). Cost me about $110. Gives me around 300mm of extra downwards travel on the front axle. Without it, the D2a was always lifting a front wheel due to the stiffness of the front swaybar.
In general, off-road, it rides much nicer with the front swaybar disconnected .... And on one occasion when I forgot to reconnect it once back on the tar, it scared the living day lights out of me in a tight downhill left hand with a bit too much speed.
A worthy improvement for little outlay !
