Hey, hoping someone can provide some advice on an intermittent power loss I am having to the gauges and lights on my 2001 td5 dash. Problem comes and goes sometimes on starting the vehicle sometimes when operating. When it happens I lose all power to the dash gauges and dash lights. Nothing shows on a nanocom. Any guesses on what's at fault or where to look. Thought it may be a relay, but if so which one. Any advice welcomed.
Hi, no relay involved, the first suspect is the earth cos it's common for the lights and the instruments also it's in a vulnerable place too, i hope you have RAVE, see Electrical library - Connector views - C0551 , pin 2 is the earth for the instrument pack, check for corrosion or bad contact there(i attach it just in case but you'll need RAVE if the problem is not there cos then you'll have to make measurements, the pic is from an auto but the connector is there for manual too)...if no joy with the earth unplug and give contact spray in the plugs of the interior fusebox, water ingress there is also common but it used to make more serious troubles.
