    SLS Reinstall

Having been on coils for two years I've now switched back to SLS. I found the springs a bit soft and saggy with all the camping gear ive started ton lug around, so rather than a 2inch lift and the expence I went for two new Dunlop Bags from rimmers UK.

I've been back on them 3 days and the drive experience is much better having convinced myself coils were no different. The car seems to corner better and far less bouncy at the rear. I'm yet to drive it fully loaded up.

A good rap for Ayres Auto in Brookvale Syndey too as they noticed my compressor was not in a good way, so have lent me their spare unit whilst I await a new one from the UK at half the price! That's good service eh!.

Overall im pleased so have switched back and kept my coil springs as a back up such any problems occure.

One question! Once my new compressor in the new case is installed. Does anyone have any tips on how to protect it better was water and dust??

    Well done, way to go.

For dust, prevention all you need to do is extend the air input hose so that the inlet is inside the cabin. That way the compresor breathes clean cabin air not dusty air at the rear of the disco.

To do this, remove the LH tail light assembly and you'll see the small round plastic air inlet filter housing for the compressor. Find some suitable rubber hose and extend the air line to inside the cabin through the gromet alongside where the light wiring assembly goes. It will end up behind the louvered vent in the LH rear trim.

For water - don't drive though deep rivers!

I'm still on my original compressor, 2003 @ 272K Km touch wood!
    Cheers

Thanks for that tip Simon, I will get onto moving the air line..

Looking forward to getting the new compressor as the car has been standing 24hrs and has dropped back both sides to about 1 inch from the bump stops ! hmmm...

So, now I find myself in the market for replacement bags.
I can easily source a set, but the question is...
The pics of the springs v what they look like on the car appears very different.
On e-bay etc they look long and slender, on the car, they look, well, fat?

    Anyone?
    Thanks

    Welcome mate

, I just added my two new bags (from rimmer bros UK).

The valve block is leaking slowly, (patched with epoxy until Thursday)

Today I just received a brand new Compressor in the case with the Valve Block from John PaddocksUK. $470 delivered from UK in 3 days (6kg)... Local price $995!...

Yes those are the ones. When new they are long and thin. Once on the car semi inflated then lowered they role down over the Black PVC boot at the bottom and turn short and fat..

I am considering this for my D2.
Are the Dunlop bags after market?
Do they last longer than LR ones?
