That's more like 15lt per 100
and yes, I'd be happy with that
Recently I had reason to drive from Bairnsdale to Sale and return using premium unleaded(no van),,
probably the first time I've done any real kays on just pulp with the 4.6.
The trip really was a best case scenario for the car, no traffic, dead flat, no wind.
6.7 kays per litre,
or
14L per hundred.
ya gotta be happy with that![]()

D2 with 4.6L rebuilt 30,000Kms ago, 14.8L/100kms everday from Frankston to Ringwood, 14l/100Kms or under on long highway trips. Towing 16ft van 19.5L/100Kms. I get better economy with the 4.6L than I did when it was a 4.0L, I think the greater torque has a bearing on overall economy.
I use 98PULP (ususally BP Ultimate) all the time.
ive been it mentioned a few time that the 4.6 has better economy than the 4.0
popular explanations is greater torque so the engine isnt working as hard
and that the mid revs fuel map hole isnt present.
