    Rip The Roof Off

Just wondering, say for example?. one's series 2 disco was in a severe hail storm and for arguments sake the roof was seriously dimpled?. how would one go about removing said roof?. Like all Rovers I assume it is silastic'd and bolted on but there are sensors and leccy things up there too? Is it hard???? Is it Possible?

Doors and bonnet.. No dramas.. Roof? No Idea.

I can live with the dimples if I am to tear this poor old tuck to pieces.

The link below shows the procedure...the website is full of pop ups but shows the gist of it.

    http://http://workshop-manuals.com/l...s/roof_panels/

Doable if you have the tools and a bit of an idea.

I tried to find more links, maybe a bit more searching on the net might produce more info.

    D1 roof

Have taken roof or turret of a disco 1, spot welded on top no bolts, is doable then new one spot welded in place, i would think d2 would be the same, messy work, need to hire a spot welder, find replacement turret, we bought new from LR at the time and be patient, takes time.

Spot welding is not something I'm OK with.

One other alternative is to plug weld using MIG...

If I was doing the repair I'd be spot welding...heat transfer is more localised. You may still need to plug weld certain points if the arms of the spot welder cannot access the weld area.
