If that were the deciding factor no one would keep and maintain d2 or similar aged 4wd's in other brands. I have happily spent WAY more in the last 2 years on my truck than its market value. I am about to spend a heap more...but would rather plough it in to my favourite off roader than spend more on a newer model.

Doesnt the top of the block need to be machined to fit the top hats?
This is getting beyond my knowledge, cast iron blocks are more my experience.

Yes,just imagine a counter sink hole.the top of the sleeve sits in the counter sink

as Lewy said,, you will need to machine the block.
they've been putting new liners in diesels for 100 years,, its not rocket science:D
