Thread: TD5 restart problems

If mine does that it is usually the immobilizer getting confused by RFI.

Fix is to lock , then unlock with key fob. Then insert key and try again.
Mine has done it twice in 18 months at the same shopping centre, then just recently in my garage.

Many thanks, PhilipA. I'll give that a go.

Don't forget to wait a few seconds after turning the ignition on before cranking. Glow plugs etc.

I have had this happen a few times and the above works for me also.

My 99 does it randomly too!! Won't do it for ages then out of the blue, it will do it. I just leave it 30 or so seconds, then it starts😑

If it cranks it means it's not immobiliser issue cos immobiliser = no crank, replace the main relay(R9) in engine bay fusebox to rule it out, eventually check/clean plug of the crank sensor cos these elements have crank no fire symptom
