    D2a Td5 Auto Vibration

Took a D2a for a test drive and when accelerating from 20-60kph noticed what felt like a low rumble/mild vibration coming from the drive train. Would a faulty torque converter cause this? Vehicle had low kms and looked to be well serviced. The vibration was not harsh and you could almost ignore it, but something just did not quite sound right.

Google comes up with plenty of possible causes, but what I am looking for is someone who could match these symptoms. Or is this normal for the auto prior to the TC locking up?

Worn engine mounts are a common cause.
    Cheers

    Thanks for the suggestions. X2

Has a brand new front drive shaft and no vibration/rumble at 100kph.

Engine mounts is interesting (and potentially a simpler problem).

I agree re the engine mounts. Had a similar problem with my previous D2. Car felt very different once I changed them...... quieter and smoother.

It's a pretty common thing, our Disco's are getting a little long in the tooth now

Tell me more. What do these look like? Can't say I've ever noticed these, maybe mine are missing.

They are normally located just forward of the hand-brake drum bolted to the transfer case output housing. Sometimes they are missing - maybe not all models had them fitted. Photos attached.
These are fitted to a 2002 TD5, the 2003 V8 I have in the yard does not this the vibration absorber fitted.
