Replace it. According to the workshop manual every scheduled service. So every oil change.

That's part of what allows LR to indicate 20000km between oil changes. Versus 5 to 10 for competitors engines. Under normal service. I replace every 12 - months or thousands of kilometres.

Definitely change it , just be careful not to overtighten the 10 mm bolts
as the housing is aluminium, easier job than the spin on filter , which should be changed as well

Use a genuine or OEM replacement filter. The pattern types do not seem to spin well - the noise is noticeably not there when you shut down the engine.

I strongly suggest using a small 1/4" torque wrench and setting it to the correct torque setting for retightening. This forum is plagued with threads of damaged/stripped threads from over tightening.

I just replace them with an original every service. They're cheap.

    Wow, 20'000 Kms?

I just changed my oil 1500kms overdue
(10'000 as per log book- this was 230'000)

And there's no way I would want to leave the oil in there for 20'000kms
I was even thinking of dropping my interval to 7000!

Btw: D4s are 25000km or 12 mths. Considering that the oil spec for a D2 is ACEA B2 and the current specs available are B4 , oils should last the distance. Depends on what you are comfortable with. Until i got it, oil change was every 20000km.

To be honest i would love to know the correct oil change km cant find them in any of the books that came with Disko td5
the Haynes owners workshop manual says 6000miles for oil and 12000 for centrifuge
The Land Rover agent in TAS said 20000 km, which seems a long way between oil changes
And filter is around the $35 mark

According to the factory service guide:
Services at 20,000km under "normal" driving conditions.
"The maintenance items listed, are those recommended for vehicles operating under normal driving, road and climatic conditions. More
frequent attention may be necessary if the vehicle is subject to stop/start operation, extremes of temperature, dusty conditions, off road
driving or frequent towing of trailers.
    "
Centrifuge at "A" services which are 20,000km and then after every 40,000km.
    Cheers
