Starter doesn't operate or do you hear clicks? Could be battery starting to fail as m&s flash on.....they usually are an indication of low voltage.

Could possibly be the XYZ switch not detecting that it's in park properly? Might just need adjustment, that can cause the M&S lights too.

I would be checking the battery condition first!

    M&S lights flashing

I've suffered this problem twice so far in 50,000 Kms and have had to replace the Inhibitor Switch (UHB100190 Switch assembly electronic auto) on both occasions. Last time, Mar 14, the cost was around $900!!!

When the M&S lights flash the car is locked in third gear (wonderful when towing a caravan up hills). Doing a complete shut down usually clears the problem for a short while but if it won't start it is because it does not know that it is in P or N and therefore won't start. Try moving the selector back and forwards a few times which may free it.

The problem is the crappy switch which is not a LR part. We need a better designed part to slove this problem.

There is 1 key thing that everyone has missed here with the WXYZ switch. If it's acting up the PRND321 display next to the odometer disappears.
So it's a doddle to tell if it's working properly.

Alspo fet the codes read from the autobox ECU.
