Personally, I would place a call to Penrite myself and ask them.

Are they both synthetic ? I can tell you from experience do not mix mineral and synthetic together.

The HPR 5 (which is what I think most members use) is listed as "now fully synthetic". I don't have the container of the other to hand at the moment, but my recollection is that it is fully synthetic, whereas the HPR5 used to be "semi synthetic".

if you still have the receipt maybe take it back and swap for the diesel version

I wouldn't mix oils.

But then I also don't like changing oil brands and types between services either.

Answer = both.

Penrite recommends the HPR Diesel 5 (semi synthetic) for TD5, which is the one I usually use.

The one I mistakenly bought (assuming it was one and the same, and since opened, so I can't take it back) is the HPR 5 full synthetic - ironically also recommended for light duty diesel engines.

So, back to the original question? Or maybe i should just follow ramblingboy42's suggestion at post 2 and ask Penrite.
