    1999 D2 TD5 - ABS Oddity?

    Hi All

I am busy replacing the Ball Joints on the Left and Right Steering Knuckle. Not as easy as I thought - but thanks to Hendrik's Tutorial I think I will be ok.

I have noticed something that is confusing me.

In Hendrik's tutorial he shows that you should unplug the ABS wire for the drivers side just under the Master Cylinder.

Under my Master Cylinder I can see a yellow plug the same as the ABS plug on the Passenger side, but nothing is plugged into this, the ABS wire comes up from the hub through into the engine bay, then all the way across the engine bay to the passenger side where it disappears into the bulkhead.

    Is this standard?

    Thanks

At some point it would have failed, and been replaced with a "long wire" sensor. Not standard, but a typical fix for a failed sensor.

Thanks for that, where would this "long wire" terminate?

It should go all the way to the terminal at the SLABS ECU. The idea with the "long wire" sensor is to bypass all other wiring, which may be faulty, and is crimped in at the connector.

I haven't fitted one, but I need to soon.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers, Carl
