    Front Hub Assembly

Yesterday I my d2 steering wheel was a bit wobbly as I was driving to work and I just thought I must get the wheels balanced. But, driving home today the D2 was behaving a bit weird the front was shimmying a bit. I thought maybe the ball joints are going. So I got the jack out when I got home lifted the front right up and grabbed the wheel to see if there was any movement. Well bugger me there was about a inch of movement and its not the ball joints. The Front Hub Assembly was shot at and the caliper had kept the wheel on.
So before I order a new hub ass as anyone had experince with the cheaper priced britpart option as opposed to the britpart OEM as there is a $190 price difference. So please post any experience or opinions.

When I purchased mine Britcar advised that they recommend the OEM ones. But they did also state that they haven't had any of the cheaper Britpart ones come back for warranty claims. I did some searching on both here and some overseas Land Rover forums and couldn't find any experiences of failures of the cheaper Britpart units - just a lot of posts of people talking about them in the negative based on their experiences with other Britpart items.

Don't forget that you'll also need a new hub nut and consider doing your drive shaft seal. But be warned there might be an issue with the sizing of the new driveshaft seals so you may be opening a can of worms by changing this (see http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ml#post2105201 for details) - if your old seal is ok I would leave it in place to avoid this issue.

Thanks, I'll just order the cheap one an 190 extra in pocket is not to be scoffed at. I already have a spare drave shaft seal in my parts kit. I ordered 2 when I did the right hand side and no issue with that, its also britpart.

I have the part number the drive shaft nut at my ready.

I think the biggest issue will be finding a big enough torque wrench.

I bought a 3/4" drive one a few years ago - surprising how much you end up using it - pan hard road, steering box, Ford Falcon hub nuts etc.
