Yeah. He gassed her up a couple of weeks ago, and it worked beautifully.... For about five days! Luckily he'd also added some fluorescent dye and was able to quickly locate the leak from underneath the car, using a special light.
He said it took about 4-and-half-hours to get everything out, which is a pretty good effort I reckon! Luckily I'd downloaded the workshop manual from Rover Parts and was able to print out all the relevant instructions to assist with the dash-removal.
He reckons I should have her back mid-week.
I've just received the new Oxy-sensors & the new MAF-sensor should be here any day. It'll be nice to have her running properly

Yeah, that's what worries me.....
Actually, after replacing both front window regulators, it was incredibly rattle & squeak free..... oh well.....

Is there any trick to removing the airbags without them going off?
I'll follow the Rave procedure so hopefully it'll all go well

I reckon disconnecting the battery and not reconnecting until the SRS airbag circuit is 100% back together would be a good start.Aarrggghhh.

Do you even have to remove the airbag? That doesn't sound right? If you had to remove the steering wheel at all i'd say maybe unbolting the support brackets from the firewall and letting it rest against the drivers seat would be enough to remove the dash.
I've never done this before in a Disco, just thought i'd mention it anyway.

Well, I've done it!
I spent the last few nights removing the dash in my D2 in order to replace the A/C evaporator. What a job! I live in an apartment so did it in my allocated space! The flouro above my space is also out so did it by led camp torch.
I am not going to rush to put it back together as I want to spend some time tidying up the wiring, clean/vacuum all the bits including the fan and ducting.
I do want to replace all the crumbling foam, but need to source a replacement.
Anyone any other advice or things I should check before reassembly?
BTW, I believe I found confirmed the leak in the evaporator. We had to use two loads of dye to find it but finally noticed a telltale signature when shining the light up the drain hose. Upon removing the heater box, most of the front of the evap is covered in dye. Confirmed! Interestingly, the evap was filthy.....covered in grime and dirt and even leaves.
On a side note....to the bloke who wrote the RAVE. It's not as simple as 'undo bolts securing refrigerant pipes and remove pipes, discarding o'rings'.I couldn't get my boof hands between the fire wall and engine head.
