Arrow Brake Squeal noise. Then the 3 Amigos!

Tonight after l started the Disco Td5 to leave work, I noticed a really bad brake squeel. It was really high pitched for a few seconds and then the hill descent, ABS and Traction control light came on. The brakes have only about 10,000 km on them so are quite new. I replaced the pads at the same time as well. I think they were Bendix pads.

I have noticed over the past few weeks that the squeel has been coming up when the brakes were cold. The first couple of presses and you could hear it. After that you wouldn't hear a thing.

I haven't checked on the Nanocom yet for any codes. So what would be causing this squeeling noise? Any suggestions?

You will need to remove pads , check to make sure they are Bendix , if they are you could de glaze discs with emery tape as well as the pads.
To do pads , place emery tape on a flat surface and lightly move the pad over it in a circular motion, also take the sharp edges off , also apply anti squeal to back of pads,
The squeal is the result of vibration which also sets up a harmonic, causing a visit from the 3 amigos
    Cheers

Did you use anti rattle on the back of the pads when you installed them?

No I didn't use itBrake Squeal noise. Then the 3 Amigos! Can I just get it from any parts shop? Looks like I'll be doing that this weekend if it's not to late to do.

I found the rear pads (bendix) oversized running over the edge of the rotors wearing a ridge in the pad causing squel.

Yep, Supercheap even sells it in one use sachets...

Stops pad to disc resonance and hence squeal and Amigoes

I'll be buying some this weekend and doing it. I checked on the Nanocom and it came up with low resistance on LH side which is where the squeel noise came from.

IMHO the best budget pads, cheap and US made
No shims or anti rattle, better fit
No dust and less pedal effort required

Dont bag them if you havent tried them
