    engine bay dress up

    hey everyone

just keen to findout of there are any nice things i can install to dress up the ugly v8.

i.e tappet covers, intake manifold, injector rail or anything else as it looks hectic and dull

i love bling areoflow parts and polished alloy.

has anyone dressed up their engine bay or motor?

    thanks in advance

In Australia I imagine most LR owners use their vehicles as they were designed for and couldn't give a hoot for bling - maybe a wee bit.

I'd be looking on European or US sites for inspiration, the Euros are mad for it

If you regularly take your D2 off road you will soon be tired of polishing it - Or the care factor will wane once it's been pinstriped by Lantana and full of muddy crud. I'd be more happy spending time and money keeping it running good and well maintained.

However, if your vehicle is more of a street machine, then fill your boots and break out the Autosol and polish away. Most alloy components can be polished, it will take time though. You can dress up the hoses using silicone ones in a variety of colours and also redo the split conduit in different colours as well. You can paint various components - its up to you to I guess.

Most Creeks in Australia have an unlimited amount of Shiny MUD that is free to take home with you.
Its a damn sight more fun and no elbow grease needed

Get the valve covers and even intake manifold polished if you are after a hair dressers car.

Yeh what about 2nd battery, remove the AC and fit an endless air fit some extended shock towers and remote res shocks. Those alone would add some decent bling while being useful aswell.

But for some reason I reckon your taking the ****.

ok im getting an idea you all dont understand quite what im asking, ill fill you in on a little background first .

i used to own 5 nissan 300zx z31's and 1 z32. with the older cars you couldnt do much with them to dress them up other than remove the egr and cold start idle up control valve and clean up some daggy wires. however with the z32 being a newer model this opened up the range to alot of aftermarket parts from various manufacturers in endless coatings. and also came mafless tunes so you could clear out the airbox, also relocate the fusebox and battery and remove 5kgs of useless heater hose and the egr.

i have owned some nice old motors and some new ones also as im currently on my 18th car in the 17 years ive had my drivers licence, and throughout all these makes and models i have always looked for ways to dress up the engine bay and make it look cleaner/ clearer and easier to work on.

i like to accent my motors with things like new welsh plugs and chrome tappet covers and side push rod inspection pannels. new manifolds always clean up an engine bay nicely but as for this LR D2 im unsure if there are any better ones on the market to upgrade to otherwise i would just acid bath the current one...

    get what i mean now??

Of Course we understand but this crowd just sees no value in bling.

Its like the 50-60 s American car "restorers" who "Show and Shine" and cut and shut and paint Thunderbirds Nipple Pink, and clean up all the wires in the engine bay and chrome everything.
At Bateau Bay recently I saw all this BS and the one Thunderbird I thought worthwhile was original black with a nice patina.
The classic and veteran car crowd would never do this and neither would the 4x4 crowd in general.

So we know what you want to do but see no value in it.
