    winch mounting

Ok so im a low income earner who is supporting my family on a shoe strung budget.

I can afford a cheap ebay special winch for $300 but I cant afford the bullbar .

What im wanting to do is mock up some sort of mount on the front of the landy where the bull bars would normally bolt to. Guessing this would be the strongest point. And I kinda dont want the winch mounted miles out front of the stock bumper so was thinking I could re enforce the reo bar and mount a winch guide in it so there is a clean look from the outside

Has anyone done anything like this before?

    Hi Mate,
I have not gone thru this exact mod, but you might get some ideas from this video:

The winch segment starts about 10 min into this video

I've seen people use Hayman Reese style carriers to attach the winch to the vehicle, which if you have access to a basic stick welder and angle grinder and some steel offcuts, you should be able to manage with some patience.

I have a Hayman Reece type fitting on the front with a winch fitted into a cradle and hitch that I then only connect up when I need it.
This design is not for everyone, but suits my purposes as (i) I'm not carrying a winch full time, and (ii) I can also connect the winch to the rear bar for a reverse pull.
I have HD welding cable running along the chassis to the rear and 500?A Anderson plugs for winch connections (rear one yet to be/about to be fitted along with isolators).
If anyone wants to PM me with an email address I have some pics/words I can send. Cheers Gavin

I like the sound of the 2 directional winch too. May have to rig some side mounts
