V8 Starter motor - any experience with this one?
I have a sticking solenoid after a clean and refurb today, so when I saw this one for $125 I was tempted.
Starter Motor FOR Land Rover Discovery V8 3 5L 3 9L 4 0L Petrol | eBay
Maybe someone has some experience with it to share - good, bad or otherwise?
TIA

I pulled apart a starter motor that looked just like that, it was for a 3.5lt V8 RRC. The reason I disassembled it was to try make one good starter motor from 2. I had a Denso unit and a cheap one.
I did end up swapping the components Ii needed but they are not identical. The Denso one was a better quality construction with slightly thicker components. The mechanism for the solenoid engagement was also different. The winding looked very much the same and i'm sure I used the armature and the brush set from the cheap one and put them in the Denso housing.
Long story short. It didn't seem like a poor unit, but the Denso one was obviously better.
