Well done, a good idea. How about some photos...
Today I managed to move the Auto ECU from under the front passenger seat to more or less the inside back wall of the centre console. Can't tell it is there and no space has been lost. Whoever told me it could be done, thank you. Not going to be scared of river crossings now.

A plastic bag and some zip ties would have accomplished the same
What happens when the water is deeper and reaches the centre console![]()
I knew someone would ask. But didn't take any. I wasn't confident I would work. It only just fits and was tricky to get back together. If I need to pull it to bits again I'll take some pictures.
Basically all I did was make a 90 degree bracket that screws into the air ducting pipe. The vertical part comes up between the back of the centre console bucket and the back of the console. I drilled 4 holes in the bracket so I could mount the ecu to it with the same plastic screws the original bracket used. I cut a slit in the loom insulation tape to keep the orange wires going to the plug under the seat. With the orange wire going where they needed I taped up the loom again. The ecu is mounted with the plug coming up from the bottom, as it is now mounted vertically. The plug rests on the ash tray. Pretty easy with the right tools.
You're a funny man. A plastic bag wouldn't allow me to mount the ecu again unless I put holes in the bag where the screws go. Kind of defeating the purpose. Beside isolations is better than insulation. If by some chance the water gets higher than the console, I think I'll have bigger problems 😥
